More information on the Amplifon collection

I visited Amplifon on 17th Feb 2020. The property is not normally open to the public. My visit was graciously organised by Caroline who looks after Brand, Media & Advertising.

The history of this collection is that it had a substantial number of ear trumpets at the time 2 collections were combined in 1963 when Amplivox took over the remains of Rein. At that time the duplicate Rein chair also moved to Amplivox UK. Amplivox UK became Amplifon in 2006.

The chair was kept in the window of the Liverpool office of Amplivox for about 60 years and was recently donated to the Museum of Liverpool.

Sometime in history, the major part of the trumpet collection was robbed !
This explains why there are only 2 trumpets left and a small collection (15) of audio/hearing test instruments kept in a glass cabinet.

Whilst at Amplifon Caroline kindly gave me a spare copy of the Sunday Times Magazine dated Aug 16th 1970.

I have photographed this interesting page.
